So I promised to let you know how we’ve been getting on over the holidays and how far down our “bucket list” we’ve managed to get. Well I am not quite pulling my hair out but there have been a few testing moments. I would love to hear how you are getting on managing to entertain the children/balance with work. I must admit, I am glad that summer is a quiet time for me else I am not sure quite how I would manage.
Well last week was up and down for me. We had planned a trip to The Living Rainforest as we have annual tickets so wanted to get the use out of them plus it’s such a great day out, especially if you get to glimpse the sloth. BUT Jack was having one of those days where he just didn’t want to listen or do what I had asked him to. So, in a moment of frustration (and madness) the words, “right, well we won’t be going to The Living Rainforest today then” left my mouth. I instantly regretted it as I knew I had to stick to it. So we didn’t go but they got taken by their grandparents on Monday (which is one of my “work days”) so all was not lost. They had a brilliant time too. Anyone else have days like this though? Days where nothing seems to go right and you end up feeling like the worst parent in the world??
Anyway, the week did get better. We made it to California Country Park on the Thursday so a yummy picnic and play in the park, followed by a walk around the lake and topped off with ICE CREAM!!
Friday took us to Whoosh with some friends. Whoosh is a soft play centre located in Bracknell Leisure Centre and had just changed owners. I have to say I was impressed. The previous Whoosh had a bit of a bad reputation for being unclean and having poor food and grumpy staff. The new owners have given the place a deep clean, replaced furnishings and the staff are happy and smiley 🙂 It makes such a difference doesn’t it? It was relatively quiet too which was a bonus for the school holidays so we had our lunch there too and we were also impressed with the food. We will definitely return as it’s only down the road. I know the owner has big plans for the future too so looking forward to seeing what they have planned.
Our weekend was much more chilled than recent weekends which is just what we needed. Just one party this weekend (our children have better social lives than we do I swear!) which was at the Bracknell Trampoline Centre – soooooo much fun was had on the trampolines and bouncy castles. I highly recommend for parties.
This week I went back to Shropshire to spend some time with my parents, sisters, niece and nephew. Jack and Eva love playing with their cousins and it’s been so lovely seeing them have some quality time together. The weather had been glorious up until Friday. So we had lots of garden and park play with a trip to Wonderland on Thursday. Wonderland is great for kids…..But I actually don’t think it’s changed in 25 years!!!! I had very vivid memories while walking around – lovely feeling of nostalgia.
As it was raining on Friday we went off to the cinema to watch Finding Dory – such a lovely film with a heart warming sentiment. Jack LOVED it, while Eva fell asleep, which I was secretly thankful for as I thought she was going to talk the whole was through it bless her. We also went to do the dreaded school shoe shop, which actually wasn’t that painful in the end. Happy that I have one more thing ticked off the list before Jack starts school in (oh my goodness) 2 weeks time!!!!
Back home in Berkshire now ready for another week full of adventure here at Beanstalk HQ. Hope you all have a lovely week planned. Let me know what you are getting up to by commenting below 🙂
